Poster Research

A film poster is a major part of the distribution of the film you have created, these posters are seen almost everywhere when advertising the film, therefore they have to catch the viewers attention upon them first looking at the poster. A film poster not only promotes the film you have made, but the actors as well. Having a well known actor on the front of your poster and within your film will attract a larger audience based on the past films they have seen the actor participate in. Since we are creating a teen drama, I have tried to focus on researching film posters from within this genre, allowing me to gain a better idea of how they portray the story within a single image.

The film poster for "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" is one that focuses itself entirely around the main character played by Lindsey Lohan. The poster has a tile effect of nine photos of her face with the title of the film underneath. This implies that the film is based solely on this girl and her life, with her being the only one featured on the film poster. The layout is fairly simple and makes the point very clear to the audience.

The film poster for "Easy A" again focuses on the main character of the film. Emma Stone is the only one featured within the poster, allowing the audience to understand that she is the main character within the film. The poster shows the main character being called names, which are represented with the words and arrows pointing towards her on the background. This is also a simple design, however it allows you to understand the idea that this girl is going to be the centre of attention throughout the film and the words behind her make you want to understand why she is being tormented with those name callings,
